    Gas odor leads to brief evacuation of Horry County business plaza

    HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A business complex along Highway 544 was briefly evacuated on Wednesday after a reported gas odor.

    Horry County Fire Rescue crews arrived to the 1000 block of Highway 544 at 11:40 a.m. Officials cleared out the area as a precautionary measure, but no injuries were reported.

    There is no threat to the public. Crews located the source and are monitoring gas levels. Affected businesses will be ventilated. Utility workers were dispatched to help, Horry County Fire Rescue said.
