    Maxton man arrested in ‘suspicious’ vehicle jailed on numerous drug charges

    ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WBTW) — A Maxton man is facing numerous drug charges after he was arrested Wednesday in a vehicle being sought by South Carolina authorities, the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office said.

    Deputies arrested Christian Samuel Stephens, 23, after responding to the 2800 block of Red Hill Road in Maxton to investigate a “suspicious” vehicle. During their investigation, deputies found and seized cocaine, prescription medication, suboxone strips, marijuana, cash and drug paraphernalia.

    He was taken to the Robeson County Detention Center and charged with trafficking in cocaine; possession with intent to sell/deliver cocaine; maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance; possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver a scheduled II controlled substance; possession of a scheduled III controlled substance; possession with intent to sell/deliver marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held without bond.

    No information was immediately available about why South Carolina authorities were looking for the vehicle.
