South Florence Bruins football preview

FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) – No one has had a better 2-year run in our area than the South Florence Bruins. 29 wins in a row at one point, a state championship win in 2022, and a state-runner up trophy in 2023.

Drew Marlowe’s team will be the favorites to win Region 5-4A again this fall. They are led on offense by running back Zion Gilbert and wide receiver Jayden Sellers, a USC commit and the younger brother of USC quarterback LaNorris Sellers who was the QB of that 2022 state championship team.

On defense, Amare Adams will anchor the D-Line. He’s considered one of the best players in the state and has verbally committed to play at Clemson in 2025.

2023 record: 14-1 (5-0) in Region 6-4A, lost in state championship game

2024 first game: Friday, August 23 vs. West Florence – 8pm
