Several Conway roads closed ahead of flooding from Tropical Storm Debby

CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) — Several roads in Conway have been closed ahead of river flooding from Tropical Storm Debby, the city said Thursday on Facebook.

The city has closed the following roads:

• Elm Street at the railroad tracks near Conway Marina
• Conway Marina Boat Ramp
• Riverfront Park and Playground
• Riverwalk (under the Main Street bridge)
• New Road from the dog park to Creel Street
• Waccamaw River Park
• Crabtree Greenway

“If you see barricades, do not travel around them. Turn around, don’t drown,” the city urged. “Floodwater has hidden dangers. Keep [an] eye out if you are near the waters for dangerous debris and displaced wildlife.”

The city also urged those who have to be on the river to not create a wake.
