ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WBTW) — Robeson County homicide detectives on Monday launched air and land searches for a Rowland woman last seen on Aug. 11, Sheriff Burnis Wilkins said.

Chelsea Jones, 33, is 5-foot-4 and weighs 142 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. She was reported missing last Sunday to the Fairmont Police Department, which requested help from sheriff’s deputies after authorities learned that Jones was last seen at a residence outside of town.

“Detectives have been working behind the scenes for several days,” Wilkins said. “There is little doubt that a few people who have been interviewed have information pertinent to Chelsea Jones.”

Authorities spent Monday scouring an area off Turkey Branch Road outside of Fairmont and another area near Orrum.

“We are seeking the truth as no family should have to endure this type of pain, especially when we know information is being withheld that could bring this investigation to a close,” Wilkins said.

Officials plan to expand search areas as new information develops. Anyone with information about Jones’ whereabouts is asked to call the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office at 910-671-3170.
