Woman beaten to death with hammer inside restroom at North Carolina QuikTrip, police say

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS ) — A woman found dead in a Charlotte gas station’s restroom Saturday night was killed with a hammer, police said.

Officers responded at 11:15 p.m. to the QuikTrip on Trailer Drive in northeast Charlotte, where Glandina Latamba Dixon, 47, was pronounced dead due to blunt-force trauma, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

Police charged Sam Roary, 53, with first-degree murder in Dixon’s death. The investigation shows Roary had a relationship with Dixon. He is being held in the Mecklenburg County jail on a $1 million bond.

Police reports show someone called 911 from the QuikTrip bathroom, saying she was bleeding from the back of her head and that there was blood on the floor. Dixon was pronounced dead at 11:23 p.m.

Officers said gas-station surveillance video showed a Black man getting out of a black Ford pickup truck and following the woman into the store. He then returned to his truck to retrieve what appeared to be a hammer, records state.

After entering the store, documents said he walked directly into the women’s restroom. The suspect was in the restroom for about 40 seconds before he left and drove off.
