MARION COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A 56-year-old Mullins woman remained in jail Wednesday morning charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting another person in the leg with a handgun Monday night.

Lauizer Rowell Washington was arrested early Tuesday and booked into the Marion County Detention Center, where she is being held on a $40,000 bond. In addition to attempted murder, she is charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Washington allegedly shot the victim while they tried taking the gun away from her, according to an arrest warrant. The victim was shot with a .32 caliber H&R Magnum Revolver.

The victim was treated at a local hospital and released after the shooting, which authorities said happened shortly before midnight. No additional information was immediately available.
