RED SPRINGS, N.C. (WBTW) — A man suffered critical injuries late Wednesday night in a shooting in the town of Red Springs in Robeson County, police said.

It happened at about 11:20 p.m. at the Westgate Terrace Apartments, and the suspect got away after a “very brief pursuit at a high rate of speed,” Red Springs Police Chief Sarah Purcell said.

No additional information about the shooting was immediately available. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is assisting Red Springs police.

Purcell said a reward is being offered through Crime Stoppers. Anyone with information is asked to call Purcell or Tammy Lowery at the police department at 910-843-3454.
