MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A fugitive from Virginia was arrested Tuesday morning in Myrtle Beach after allegedly attacking a police officer attempting to arrest him, police reports said.

Angelo Bellucci, 28, was seen by an officer driving a motorcycle at a high rate of speed while making improper lane changes and disregarding numerous traffic control devices between 44th Avenue North and Robert Grissom Parkway, police reports said.

The officer attempted to pull Bellucci over to arrest him for reckless driving, police reports said. During the arrest, Bellucci began to resist and elbowed the arresting officer in the eye. More officers arrived on the scene and were able to take Bellucci into custody.

The officer sustained visible swelling and bruising to his left eye and was treated on the scene and taken to the hospital, according to police reports.

During their investigation, officers learned that Bellucci was wanted on a warrant out of Virginia.

He was also issued a traffic citation for reckless driving and not possessing a valid motorcycle endorsement. He remained in the Myrtle Beach jail as of Friday afternoon.
