DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A Hartsville man was jailed on an attempted murder charge earlier this week in connection with an August shooting in Darlington County, authorities said on Thursday.

Vontaise Carraway was charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was taken into custody in Lugoff, South Carolina, on Monday with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals.

Darlington County deputies responded on Aug. 2 to the 1100 block of W. Lynches River Road for a shooting, the sheriff’s office said. Carraway allegedly shot the victim multiple times, who was taken to a hospital in a private vehicle.

Carraway remains in Darlington County jail as of this writing on a $35,000 bond, online booking records show.
