Funeral held for Myrtle Beach Middle School student shot, killed by 15-year-old

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A funeral was held on Thursday for a Myrtle Beach Middle School student who was shot and killed by another teenager at the beginning of the month.

The funeral was held for Jaiden Smalls, a 13-year-old who died in a Sept. 1 shooting on Terrace View Court in Horry County. Horry County police have charged a 15-year-old in his death.

Smalls, also known as “Juicey J,” was born Sept. 19, 2010, according to an online obituary. His funeral was held Thursday at Shields Chapel FBH Church.

Myrtle Beach Middle School took to Facebook on Thursday to express its condolences.

“MBMS shares condolences with the family and friends of Seahawk Jaiden Antwone Smalls, September 19, 2010 ~ September 1, 2024,” the post reads. “Jaiden was loved by many Seahawks for his quick smile, his sense of humor, and his caring spirit. We will miss you, Jaiden.”

Horry County police responded just after midnight on Sept. 1 to Terrace View Court for a shooting. Police said the shooting was an “isolated incident involving juvenile residents in the same household.”

“In my understanding at this time, there are no other/additional charges expected related to the shooting itself,” Horry County police told News13 on Wednesday.
