HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A Horry County man is accused of threatening a witness 25 times over the phone while he was in jail, even after being told that the calls were recorded, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

SLED released Friday that Lashon Alvin Ladson, 39, of Longs, has been charged with two counts of unlawful communication. Ladson allegedly made the threats between Aug. 23 and Sept. 3, while in jail at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Ladson has also been charged with threatening a witness of the state over the phone after being notified by a county magistrate that he should not have contact with them at his bond hearing on Oct. 13, 2022, according to reports. This also happened between Aug. 23 and Sept. 3, 2024.

Ladson was previously arrested in 2022, when he was charged with trafficking victims under the age of 18 and engaging in sexual battery of a victim while being trafficked, reports said.

Ladson is detained at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center awaiting trial, and will be prosecuted by the South Carolina Attorney General’s Office.

Why did this guy not get prison time for his other offenses? Maybe this is the reason there’s so much crime in Horry County because nobody does anything..
