MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — One person was killed in a Saturday morning collision involving a Myrtle Beach Fire Department vehicle en route to a call, officials said.

It happened just before 6 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 17 and 15th Ave. in Myrtle Beach. A city pickup truck with lights and sirens activated struck a sedan on the driver’s side, South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper M.R. Ridgeway said.

The sedan’s driver later died at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Officials did not immediately provide an identity.

Two department employees involved in the wreck were uninjured. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is leading the investigation.
