LAURINBURG, N.C. (WBTW) — Police are looking for a 38-year-old man in connection with Friday’s killing of a Waffle House employee in Laurinburg, police said.

Florwer Carlin Lizano, also known as Chulo or Carlos, is wanted on a warrant charging him with first-degree murder in the killing of Burlie Dawson Locklear. Locklear was shot and killed early Friday while working at the restaurant on Scotland Crossing Drive.

The shooting happened at about 12:40 a.m., and Locklear died later at Scotland Memorial Hospital.

According to Laurinburg police, Lizano is known to frequent Laurinburg, Dillon and the state of Florida. He was last seen wearing a dark blue pullover hoodie, jeans, and white shoes. He was driving a dark gray Chevrolet, last seen driving on Scotland Crossing Drive toward W. Boulevard.

Investigators said he went to the restaurant and ordered food. While the food was being prepared, he became agitated and verbally abusive toward the employees.

After getting his food, police said he walked toward the parking lot before turning and firing two shots in the direction of the business. At least one of those shots hit Locklear.

Anyone with information about Lizano or the investigation is asked to contact Laurinburg police Sgt. Detective Jeffrey Cooke at 910-291-1750. Anonymous tips can be left at www.scotlandcountycs.com or P3 Tips.
