    95-year-old man killed in Saturday’s crash with Myrtle Beach fire vehicle, coroner says

    MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A 95-year-old man died in Saturday morning’s crash that involved his vehicle and a Myrtle Fire Department vehicle, according to the Horry County coroner’s office.

    Peter Pulkkinen of Myrtle Beach died at a local hospital after the crash on Highway 17 Business near 15 th Avenue S, the coroner’s office said. It happened at about 6 a.m.

    According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a city-owned pickup truck with its lights and sirens activated hit Pulkkinen’s sedan on the driver’s side. He died at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

    Two fire department employees involved in the wreck were uninjured. The highway patrol is leading the investigation.
