    Pedestrian hit, killed in Florence County, highway patrol says

    FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A pedestrian was hit and killed Monday afternoon in Florence County, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.

    It happened just after 3 p.m. on Carmon Shortcut Road near Jordan Church Road, Lance Cpl. Lena Butler said. It happened 1 mile north of Olanta.

    The pedestrian was walking east on Carmon Shortcut Road when they were hit by a 2001 Ford Explorer that was also going east, Butler said. The driver was the only person in the vehicle and was not injured. The pedestrian died at the scene.
