1 person dead, suspect in custody in Loris-area shooting, police say

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A suspect is in custody after one person died early Tuesday morning in a shooting near Loris, according to Horry County police .

It happened at about 5:30 a.m. on Alice Drive south of Loris, police said. Officers arrived at the home and found a person with a gunshot wound in the back bedroom.

The person appeared to be dead, and EMS confirmed they were dead once they arrived, according to a police report obtained by News13.

No additional information was immediately available. Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
