HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — An Horry County man is facing several attempted murder charges after allegedly shooting into a home with four people in it and then shooting at a police officer, according to police records obtained by News13.

John Earl Wilson, 57, of Longs, was charged with four counts of attempted murder, first-degree burglary and malicious injury to personal property of more than $2,000 but less than $10,000.

Horry County police responded at about 9 p.m. on Thursday to Shady Lane in the Longs area for a shooting, according to an incident report. Wilson tried to enter the home, and after failing to do, allegedly shot a rifle at the house while four people were inside it.

When the responding officer arrived, Wilson allegedly shot at them, damaging their police vehicle, arrest warrants show.

Wilson was booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center just before 3 a.m. Friday, online records show. As of this writing, he remains in jail without bond.
