HARTSVILLE, S.C. (WBTW) — The city of Hartsville’s mayor and police chief in a Facebook post on Friday addressed people’s concerns on “recent incidents.”

“The city of Hartsville and the Hartsville Police Department are aware of the concerns expressed by citizens regarding several recent incidents within and outside city limits,” the post reads. “In response, Chief Snellgrove and the Hartsville Police Department remain steadfast in their commitment to pursue and prosecute those responsible for criminal activity.”

“In collaboration with local, state and federal agencies, we have mobilized our investigators and Crime Reduction Unit to focus on key areas of concern,” Snellgrove said in the post. “Our goal is to conduct high-profile enforcement operations to prevent future incidents and apprehend individuals who post a threat to our community.”

The Crime Reduction Unit was established to enhance community engagement and address specific issues affecting public safety, according to Snellgrove.

Mayor Casey Hancock expressed gratitude to the police department for their dedication.

“We are incredibly thankful to all law enforcement officers in our city and neighboring communities who risk their lives to protect us,” Hancock said in the post. “Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been injured recently.”

The post did not go into details about specific recent events, but the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office said Friday morning that deputies were “working diligently” to find whoever is responsible for a series of shootings this week in the Hartsville area.

at least they are admitting it mow Years ago i was talking to a city official and he eluded about the city council hiding the bad stuff to keep the squeaky clean image. Those doing it should realize it's no longer possible to hide things from the population, and what is not answered will be "guessed", which is usually worse.
