MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — One of the Myrtle Beach Police Department’s most prolific officers is calling it a career — with more than 100 arrests under her leash.

The agency on Wednesday announced the retirement of Yep just a few months shy of her eighth birthday.

“K9 Yep will be spending her retirement with her handler, enjoying her well-deserved treat-filled afternoons,” the department said on its Facebook page. “Thank you, K9 Yep, for your service to our community, our team and all of those who visit our great city.”

In addition to her dozens of public appearances, Yep has racked up an impressive record including, helping to seize more than 13 pounds of marijuana, nearly six pounds of methamphetamine, five ounces of crack cocaine and $90,000 in cash.
