    SUV driver dies in crash with tractor-trailer in Marlboro County

    MARLBORO COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — One person was killed early Thursday afternoon when a tractor-trailer and SUV collided in Marlboro County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

    The crash, which involved a 2023 Peterbilt tractor-trailer and a 2018 Kia Soul, happened at about noon on Highway 177 near Step Road, about a mile northeast of Wallace, SCHP Lance Cpl. Lena Butler said.

    The driver of the Kia was the only person in the vehicle and died at the scene, Butler said. The tractor-trailer driver as not hurt.

    According to Butler, the crash happened while the tractor-trailer was going north on Highway 177 and the Kia was traveling south on Stepp Road.

    No additional information was immediately available. Count on News13 for updates.
