Editor’s note: A report from Myrtle Beach police initially called the incident a drowning, but the Horry County Coroner’s Office later clarified to News13 it was a “medical event.”

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A person died at a Myrtle Beach resort last week, according to an incident report obtained by News13.

Myrtle Beach police responded to 201 77th Ave. N., the address for Grande Shores Ocean Resort, at about 2 p.m. on Wednesday for a “pool-related incident,” the report said. The person, which the report only identifies as male, was taken to a hospital where they died.

Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard told News13 the person turned out to have suffered a medical event.
