Woman charged with DUI in deadly 2023 North Myrtle Beach crash back in jail after deputies find alcohol in her home

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A woman charged with DUI in a deadly North Myrtle Beach crash last year is back in jail for a home detention violation after deputies found bottles of alcohol in her home, the Horry County Sheriff’s Office said.

Nancy Bishop, 63, was charged with felony DUI resulting in great bodily injury and felony DUI resulting in death in connection with the June 2023 crash that killed Thomas Brown, 41, of Longs . She was given a $100,000 bond.

While conducting an inventory of Bishop’s vehicle for a tow, officers found an open container of wine along with a cup in the cupholder containing a liquid “consistent with the contents of the wine bottle,” according to police.

Bishop has been on home detention, and when Horry County deputies conducted a compliance check at her home, they found multiple bottles of alcohol, according to the sheriff’s office. She was booked back into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

A judge in June denied Bishop’s request to have her GPS monitoring removed.
