NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — North Myrtle Beach police chief Dana Crowell is taking over as president of the statewide organization, city officials announced Wednesday.

Crowell will serve a one-year term leading the South Carolina Police Chiefs Association, advocating on behalf of law enforcement leaders and helping with recruitment and mentoring.

“I am deeply honored to have been chosen to serve,” Crowell said in a statement. “I look forward to supporting our state’s law enforcement leaders and providing the resources they need to serve their communities effectively.”

Crowell was named the city’s chief in 2023.
