MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — “Palmetto Dance Starz” instructor Sarah Boles is a North Carolina native and started a Helene Donation drop-off at her Myrtle Beach studio.

Boles says places like Boone, Asheville, and Elkin, North Carolina make up her childhood, but they’re now underwater. Her family currently lives in King, North Carolina, and is one of the few who have power while others are stuck without gas or access to grocery stores.

Boles said her father is a first responder and she wanted to help even from afar.

“He’s been off on storm a lot and I’ve seen the impact of that,” she said. “So, just keep your linemen and your first responders in your prayers because they’re the ones who have to restore this.”

Palmetto Dance Starz is off Palmetto Point Boulevard and will be collecting nonperishable items all week. That includes canned goods, water, flashlights, batteries, baby wipes and formula.

“They can’t get to grocery stores. Gas prices are also skyrocketing. I know places that have completely run out of gas,” Boles said. “Like, you can’t go anywhere to get what you need, and you must have these things to survive.”

Supplies can be dropped off from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and will be delivered to the mountains. Palmetto Dance Starz owner Courtney Carroll expressed gratitude for the support.

“I wish we could do more, but I feel like every little bit is going to help,” she said. “It does make me feel good that we have such a caring community that wants to band together and help all these people.”

Diapers, hygiene and cleaning supplies are also some more items you can donate. The dance studio is not asking for clothing items at this time.
