HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Two people taken into custody after a car chase Friday that followed a break-in at the home of 15th Circuit Solicitor Jimmy Richardson are also suspects in burglaries in Florence County , authorities said.

Richardson confirmed to News13 that multiple suspects burglarized his home in Conway but said no one in his family was home at the time. It’s unclear what was taken during the break-in.

Florence police identified the suspects Friday afternoon as Kristopher Wooten and Quincey Sapp and said they were in custody in Horry County.

Richardson said the thieves broke out some glass and then entered the home in an incident captured on video by a Ring security camera. When it happened, Richardson said he called a neighbor who works for Horry County police and the officer notified other law enforcement and “sent the cavalry” to his home.

Wooten and Sapp were taken into custody in the Pitts Landing area after a pursuit along Highway 378 that involved Horry County and Conway officers. Conway police are leading the chase investigation..

The Florence County burglaries happened late Thursday morning and late Thursday afternoon at homes on Thornblade Drive and the Queensferry and Wellesly Court area.

Richardson thanked all of the agencies involved, including Conway police, Horry County police and the Horry County Sheriff’s Office, and said they did an “incredible job.” He also said that his home surveillance camera made a difference in the situation and encouraged others to consider installing surveillance cameras.

Richardson also says he will remove himself from prosecuting the case since he was the victim.

Richardson has held the solicitor’s office since December 2012 when he was appointed by then-Gov. Nikki Haley.
