TIMMONSVILLE, S.C. (WBTW) — Timmonsville Police Department members spent part of their Thursday boxing up packages of food and hygiene products that made their way to portions of the South Carolina Upstate impacted by Helene.

The massive storm killed at least 41 people across the state, knocking out power to hundreds of thousands more and leaving much of the southeast in a state of emergency.

Officials delivered the goods to McCormick County for distribution.

“We saw firsthand some of the devastation that people in the Upstate have endured. Please keep all the victims of this disaster in your prayers,” the department wrote in a message posted to its Facebook account on Saturday.
