FLORENCE COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — A 30-year-old Darlington County man was found guilty Thursday by a Florence County jury in the December 2020 killing of a 27-year-old man , the 12th Circuit Solicitor’s Office said.

Terrele Rashon Bailey was found guilty of killing Lamonte McAllister of Florence County. Bailey, who was out on bond for murder and armed robbery charges in other counties at the time, was arrested in Darlington County on Dec. 18, 2020.

Judge H. Stephen Deberry IV sentenced Bailey to 50 years in prison, according to the solicitor’s office. He will not be eligible for parole.

Bailey shot McAllister once in the neck in the 800 block of Dixie Street in Florence in the early morning hours of Dec. 18, 2020, the solicitor’s office said. Investigators described the incident as an attempted carjacking that turned into a homicide.

“I think the jury sent a strong message today that violent crime and those that commit it will not be tolerated in Florence County,” Assistant Solicitor J. Ryan White said. “The jury paid close attention to the testimony in this case and reached their verdict after an hour and a half of deliberations. We could not have achieve justice for Mr. McAllister without their careful attention to the facts in this case.”
