FLORENCE, S.C. (WBTW) — A Myrtle Beach man was sentenced to nearly three years in federal prison for a gun possession charge, the U.S. Department of Justice said Friday.

Joshua Levon West, 39, was sentenced after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm. U.S. District Judge Joseph Dawson III sentenced West to 30 months in prison followed by a three-year term of court-ordered supervision.

Court evidence showed that on March 9, 2023, Myrtle Beach police officers found West in possession of a loaded, stolen gun, the DOJ said. West is prohibited from possessing a gun based on his past convictions of armed robbery, strong arm robbery, attempted strong arm robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The case was investigated by Myrtle Beach police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
