DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — Darlington County deputies on Saturday arrested a convicted felon after hearing gunshots during a shooting investigation, Sheriff James Hudson Jr. said.

Garrett Trevaun Cockfield is facing charges of possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain crimes and possession of other controlled substances. He was booked into the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center and released on a $4,000 bond.

Authorities were in the 500 block of Hunter Drive in the Hartsville area when they say Cockfield threw his weapon and took off on foot. He was apprehended along with a Glock pistol, 50-round drum and extra 25-round magazine in his pocket.
