FLORENCE, S.C. (WBTW) — A Conway man pleaded guilty in federal court in Florence to multiple gun possession charges, the U.S. Justice Department said Tuesday.

Orlanier Colon Menendez, 21, pleaded guilty to possession of a machine gun and multiple machine gun conversion devices. He faces a maximum of 10 years in federal prison, a fine of up to $250,000 and three years of supervision after his imprisonment.

Conway police officers responded to a vehicle crash involving Menendez, the DOJ said. While investigating, the responding officer found a .45 caliber handgun that had a machine gun conversion device installed on it.

Officers also found a backpack during a search that contained an additional 12 machine gun conversion devices, also known as Glock conversion switches, as well as a rotary tool with accessories commonly used to install the devices, according to the DOJ.

Conway police and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives investigated the case.

Should be a Mandatory at least 5 years for gun crimes. Whether it's an armed robbery or altered by adding glock switch or removing serial numbers.
