Man in custody after barricade situation in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) — A man has been detained after a barricade situation ended safely late Friday afternoon in Myrtle Beach.

The man who barricaded himself inside a home on Greens Boulevard at about 1:30 p.m. was taken into custody shortly after 5 p.m. His name and the charges he is facing have not been released.

Officers responded at about 1:35 p.m. to the 2000 block of Greens Boulevard about a wanted person, police said in a Facebook post . Police tried to take the man into custody, but he ran from officers and barricaded himself inside a home near Pelicans Ballpark off 21st Avenue North.

Police said people in nearby homes were evacuated but said they have been allowed to return to their homes.
