CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) — The head baseball coach for the Citadel will no longer be with the team next season.

The athletic department said Tony Skole and the college have reached a ‘mutual understanding to part ways.’

For his final season, the team went 21-32 with a 3-18 record in Southern Conference play. Overall, Skole went 123-216 during his tenure as head coach for the bulldogs.

Skole attended the Citadel and was named an athletic hall of famer, playing both football and baseball in his time as a student. He has spent seven years as the bulldogs’ head coach.

Athletic officials say the department has already begun a national search for a new coach.
