GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD)- More than 3,300 property owners in Georgetown County will see tax assessment notices hit their mailboxes starting next week.

The county is required to notify residents whose property value will change by more than $1,000, according to a spokesperson.

Assessor Tim Holt said this applies to 3,318 properties throughout the county, mostly newly purchased or newly constructed homes.

This round of notices is unrelated to the countywide reassessment that will happen next year as mandated by state law.

Property owners can appeal the new value if they disagree with the value determined by the Assessor’s Office. The deadline to do so is 90 days from the date of the notice.

Instructions and an appeal form are attached to each notice.
