    SLED charges Dorchester County woman for taking more than $50K from church

    DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The State Law Enforcement Division has charged a church employee accused of stealing more than $50,000 from her employer.

    According to affidavits, Lynn Evans Myers was charged with breach of trust with fraudulent intent valued at $10,000 or more.

    From February 2019 to July 2023, Myers was employed at St. George United Methodist Church to use church funds for her personal use, according to SLED.

    Myers was responsible for safekeeping, transferring, and dispersing church funds during this time. Ms. Myers used approximately $39,364.34 from church credit cards for personal purchases on Apple.com. She also deposited $12,300 of church funds into her personal South State Bank account, the affidavits state.

    Authorities believe Myers stole approximately $51,664.34 from St. George Methodist.
