MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCBD) – The Moncks Corner Walmart is back to serving customers after Tuesday’s tornado destroyed store windows and damaged ceilings.

“Thanks to our amazing associates and the leadership here at Moncks Corner Walmart we are back open! The associates came in to make sure we are still here for our community,” the store posted on its social media page.

Tropical Storm Debby lashed the Moncks Corner area, causing damage to businesses near US 52 and overturning cars.

“Damaged the Arbys, went between the Walmart and the Dollar Tree building. Luckily, we have minor injuries. It didn’t hit any residential, so we’re really blessed,” said Moncks Corner Mayor Hamilton.

The National Weather Service confirmed Tuesday that a tornado did strike the area.
