CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Several major waterways across the Lowcountry are in flood stages due to the significant rainfall Tropical Storm Debby dropped on the area. Here’s where those waterways stand and how much rain the Lowcountry got.

    French Quarter Creek

One of the most prominent flood areas, the Huger creek sits at 13.41 feet in major flood stage. The level is higher than the 12.81 it was sitting at Tuesday when the National Weather Service urged residents to take action . During that time, residents were seen manning small boats to rescue family members.

While the creek is at its current level, residents can expect extensive and significant flooding, with many homes inundated with 1 to 2 feet of water, according to the NOAA. Roads surrounding the creek are flooded out and impassible.

    Ashley River at Cooke Crossroads

This section of the river sits near the Ashborough neighborhood in Summerville. Flood stage information was unavailable from NOAA; however, this part of the river is sitting at 22.57 feet of water. The record is 22.7 feet.

    Edisto River near Givhans Ferry

Running through the intersection of Highway 61 near Hideaway Drive, this section of the river is in a minor flood stage, sitting at 11.60 feet. By Monday, NOAA observers forecast the river to reach 14.20 feet, meaning it will be in a moderate flood stage on the cusp of major.

NOAA said that if the river reaches 13 feet, homes near the end of Happiness Lane will be flooded, and homes between Canadys and Norman Landing will only be accessible by boat. Once it reaches 14.2, several homes on Happiness Lane will be flooded, and water will cover the majority of Hideaway Lane.

    Ireland Creek in Walterboro

Ireland Creek is a flood-prone area and is currently in the moderate flood stage. On Wednesday, the creek beat its previous flood record by hitting 10.7 feet at 3 a.m.

When the water level is 10 feet, it enters businesses and homes along Ivanhoe Road between Forest Hills Road and Lands End Road. Flood water also hits the porches of homes on Ireland Creek Drive.
According to Colleton County Fire-Rescue, some residents of the Ivanhoe Apartment were preemptively evacuated due to the creek flooding.

If the creek hits 11 feet, widespread damage will occur.
