CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Congresswoman Nancy Mace sat down with News 2’s Erin Morgan to discuss how Tropical Storm Debby impacted her district and ongoing recovery efforts.

Rep. Mace represents the first congressional district, which encompasses parts of Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, and Jasper counties. All of which were impacted by Debby including with historic flooding, rain, and tornados.

She said it was important to her to keep residents informed within her district and that it was a group effort between Gov. McMaster and local leaders to prepare South Carolinians for the storm.

Currently, federal assistance is not available to residents who are dealing with the aftereffects of Debby. However, Rep. Mace urges her constituents to contact her office if they need help.

“We’re in touch with FEMA. We had communications with them all last week, and that will continue as the flooding continues; we offer assistance to all of our municipality’s cities and towns and building that bridge with FEMA if they are having any challenges with that,” Mace said.

“We’ll call a state agency, we will call a nonprofit, we’ll help in any way that we can, and we pretty much work seven days a week, especially when these kinds of emergencies happen.
