CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Thursday is the last day to submit applications for the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources’ deer lottery hunts.

“The Multi-site, Unrestricted Multi-site, Webb Gun, Webb Archery, and South Fenwick Archery lotteries operate independently and maintain separate preference points. Youth deer lotteries do not utilize preference points,” according to SCDNR officials.

SCDNR said the “unrestricted” multi-site lottery application will cover opportunities on Bear Island, Bonneau Ferry, Donnelley, and Ramsey Grove with no antler restrictions at these sites.

The multi-site lottery application includes Belfast WMA, Botany Bay WMA, Coosawhatchie HP/WMA, Hamilton Ridge WMA, Palachoucola WMA, and Wateree River Heritage Preserve. Officials say antler restrictions apply to these locations.

For each deer lottery, applicants can choose up to 15 hunt site selections.

Youths ages 10-17 are eligible to apply for the youth deer hunts, with no application fee or license required (unless the youth are 16 or 17) and these hunts are available at no cost to the participants.

According to SCDNR youth who are 16 or 17 years of age are required to have a Junior Sportsman’s License at the time of the hunt.

Deer Lottery applications close at 11:59 on Thursday, August 15.

That's right South Carolina. Why don't you make it easy for people to hunt our precious wildlife in this state. That's what we need. Roll out the red carpet for people, including young people, to hunt our beautiful Deer in this state. Climate change is already putting stress on our animals, and our state officials want to put a great big TARGET 🎯 on our frailing wildlife. First you Grant developers free range to run them out of there habitat, and then you encourage people to stalk and hunt them down. YOU PEOPLE ABSOLUTELY DISGUST ME!
