Deputies arrest 58-year-old Charleston County man on charges related to sexual crimes involving minor

CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Charleston County deputies arrested this week a 58-year-old man on charges connected to trafficking and sexual crimes involving a minor.

A search was conducted at the home of Mark Alan Wilson on Thursday. He was charged with one count of ‘trafficking in person a victim under 18’ and ‘criminal sexual conduct with a minor’.

It stems from a report the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office received over the summer from the victim’s mother after discovering the juvenile was missing. Affidavits say the mother found the victim was communicating with an unknown adult and saw nude photographs of the two.

According to the documents, Wilson had made plans to engage in sexual activity with the victim and agreed to pay them at least $200 and as much as $400 depending on the level of activity.

The victim told investigators that Wilson refused to pay the agreed-upon amount because they did not complete all of the sexual activity Wilson wanted.

Documents say artifacts from the victim’s cellphone had included the conversation and agreement for payment.

Wilson was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center and given a $150,000 bond during a Thursday evening hearing.
