Man killed at Walterboro apartment complex in targeted shooting, police say

WALTERBORO, S.C. (WCBD) – A man was shot and killed at a Walterboro apartment complex on Saturday morning in what authorities are calling a “targeted attack.”

The shooting happened at the Colleton Heights Apartments around 10:30 a.m., according to Colleton County Fire-Rescue.

Officials said first responders were on duty at a fire station a few blocks from the apartment complex when they heard multiple gunshots.

A man was found lying on the ground in the parking lot near the Sniders Highway entrance suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. First responders attempted life-saving measures and he was taken to a nearby hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

“This was a targeted attack, and the investigation is ongoing,” the Walterboro Police Department wrote in an Aug. 26 Facebook post. “We are asking for the community’s help to bring justice to the victim and his family.”
