CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – News 2 is working to find forever homes for all local dogs and cats during our annual Clear the Shelters initiative.

Pet Helpers, located on Folly Road, is one of the many shelters we are partnering with the make sure all animals are adopted before the end of the month.

The shelter has plenty of animals to choose from, and you can browse a list of their current intakes on their website. And they will have two puppies, Clover and Flower , on hand for Saturday’s Pet Fest if you would like to meet the pups in person.

It isn’t just about dogs. The shelter also has plenty of cats who need a forever home. During the Clear the Shelters campaign, Pet Helpers is offering $50 adoptions on all adult animals (dogs or cats).

The event will take place Saturday, August 31 at The Wonderer from 10:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Attendees can enjoy live music and entertainment, food and drink options, and get to know the many adoptable animals that will be on hand.

If adopting a new pet isn’t right for you, consider fostering an animal for a short period or check out the Pet Helpers ‘Doggy Day Out’ program where you can show dogs a great day outside of the shelter. It allows the pups to spend quality time and enjoy a break from their kennel by adventuring out. It also enhances their socialization skills. Click here to learn more.

Pet Helpers is also accepting donations and have space available for volunteers.
