CHARLESTON COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Charleston County deputies arrested a man after they said a woman reported that she escaped a kidnapping.

Michael Latroy Cohen, 45, of Hollywood was arrested on Friday.

Deputies interviewed the woman who stated she had been kidnapped by Cohen the evening before on Thursday from her home in the 4800 block of Erika Place in Hollywood.

According to the affidavit, the woman says she jumped out of a moving vehicle to escape Cohen.

She states that she and Cohen were friends, and she was aware that he struggles with drug and anger issues. Documents report she claimed that Cohen had broken into her home, brandished a weapon, and forced her to get into her car to withdraw money for him.

The woman said that Cohen drove to several banks throughout the night, forcing her to withdraw money until she finally jumped out of the moving vehicle in the area of Sam Rittenburg and Ashley River Rd.

Authorities received multiple calls Friday evening from residents stating they spotted Cohen. Officials state he was taken into custody without incident near the 6200 block of Highway 162 in Hollywood.

Cohen is charged with one count of Kidnapping, one count of Burglary in the First Degree, one count of Grand Larceny Greater than $10,000, and one count of Strong Arm Robbery.

He was given a $1,000,000 bond during a hearing.

Keep letting these violent offenders out when officers risk life to catch em... While you're at it, just close jails because they are nothing but revolving doors for the state govt to extort money anyway...society will collapse and we'll either really fight back or not. The offenders having no way to make money, no marketable skills and a bad attitude only gets worse in jail. How about put trade schools in jail to give someone a chance to have better! Online classes make for safe edu for inmates. jm2c

Be careful of the people you befriend especially these days. Wicked demons are running amok everywhere. Angels shielded her bcuz she could've been dead jumping from the car and that demon could've killed her.
