NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD)—An East Coast company announced it is establishing its first South Carolina operations in the new Shipyard Creek Logistics facility, bringing more jobs to the region.

East Coast Warehouse and Distribution is investing $14.5 million in the Charleston County facility, which it expects will create 52 new jobs.

The company is a third-party logistics provider for the food and beverage industry. It operates facilities up and down the East Coast, including in Philadelphia, Savannah, New York, and more, according to county officials.

Operations are expected to start in the summer of 2025. If you want to learn more or work for the company, click here.

East Coast Warehouse will use the operation site as a base for the company’s Safeway Trucking operation and public refrigerated warehouse solutions.

The Shipyard Creek facility is just 1.5 miles from the SC Ports Hugh K. Leatherman Sr. Terminal.

“South Carolina Ports welcomes East Coast Warehouse & Distribution to the Charleston port market. Their new temperature-controlled facility will support food and beverage shippers and others moving goods through the Port of Charleston, giving some of the world’s most recognizable brands direct access to our well-run port and the booming Southeast consumer market,” said SC Ports President and CEO Barbara Melvin.

Charleston County leaders call the Shipyard Creek facility state-of-the-art. It features a 160,250-square-foot transload facility on 42 acres, and Capital Development Parts is investing $175 million in it.

Phase 2 will see the construction of a 259,200-square-foot, 27-acre US government inspection facility and warehouse for a distribution company. Officials say the facility will be operational by the fall of 2025.
