CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) – Charleston’s popular 2nd Sunday event returns this weekend, transforming King Street into a bustling pedestrian hub from noon to 5:00 p.m.

The monthly tradition, which takes place on the second Sunday of every month, sees the iconic street closed to traffic between Queen and Calhoun streets, creating a vibrant space for locals and visitors to explore.

Shoppers and food lovers can enjoy a range of unique experiences throughout the day. Woof Gang Bakery at 341 King Street invites dog owners to bring their own Toppl or purchase one in-store. They’ll provide an array of tasty stuffings and treats, allowing guests to create an enriching snack for their pets on the spot.

Music will fill the air, with a performance by Ryan Peterson and his jazz band near 313 King Street, followed by a 3:00 p.m. show from the College of Charleston’s Trippentones, a favorite a cappella group.

Artisans and vendors will be showcasing their goods along the street as well. Mabel Mae’s Bakery, known for its all-natural, handmade baked goods, will have a booth near Beaufain Street, offering delicious treats for both humans and their four-legged companions.

Shoppers can also check out Lil Tuft, a local rug maker, whose charming and whimsical designs will be on display.

2nd Sunday offers more than just shopping and music—it’s a chance to experience the best of Charleston without the hassle of traffic or parked cars. The event encourages people to stroll along King Street, discover new businesses, and connect with local artists and vendors. With shops extending their displays beyond the sidewalks and food vendors tempting visitors with delicious fare, the street becomes a lively meeting place for friends and neighbors alike.

Whether you’re a local or visiting for the first time, 2nd Sunday on King Street is an opportunity to enjoy the charm and creativity of Charleston in a relaxed, car-free environment. The street will be closed to through traffic from noon until 5:00 p.m., giving everyone the chance to wander and take in the sights at their own pace.
