SC 261 over Penny Royal Creek to close for repairs

GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – State transportation officials will temporarily close a portion of SC 261 over Penny Royal Creek next week for repairs.

The South Carolina Department of Transportation will close the roadway to make culvert repairs beginning September 16 and is expected to reopen by the end of October.

A detour will use Choppee Road and Carvers Bay Road. A map of the detour route can be found below.

SCDOT officials say SC 261 will be open to local traffic only during the closure, except at the bridge site.
