CROSS, S.C. (WCBD)- Several rounds of ammunition were found in a student’s belongings at Cross High School on Thursday, according to school officials.

“Our administration received a report that there may be ammunition in a student’s possession on campus,” administrators wrote in a message to parents. “The report was immediately investigated by administrators with support from the school resource officer.”

11 rounds of ammunition were reportedly found in the student’s belongings following a search. No weapon was located.

Officials said the school was not placed on lockdown because the student was isolated and there was no immediate threat to campus.

“Safety and security is our number one priority, and we take all reports concerning safety seriously,” the message continued. “Please continue to encourage your children to report any concerns they may have to a school staff member so that appropriate investigation and action can be taken to ensure safety on our campus. We appreciate students who help to keep our campus safe.”

Law enforcement is investigating but no charges have been filed at this time.
