MONCKS CORNER, S.C. (WCBD) – The Houston Astros in the mid 1990’s and 2000’s were led by the killer B’s of Bagwell…Biggio…Bell…and Berkman

The Berkeley Stags have their own variation of Bash and Boone.

“I think they balance each other really well. It’s really hard to stop one when you have the other one,” said Berkeley head coach Eric Lodge.

Senior wide receiver Kayden Bash, the shiftier of the tandem led the Stags in receiving last season.

“He’s him, that’s all I have to say, he’s him. Nobody can stay in front of him. Kayden’s a playmaker. As soon as he touches the ball it’s going to be ten plus yards every time. If not, it’s going to be six,”, Berkeley senior wide receiver Kevin Boone said.

Right there beside Kayden, another senior in Kevin Boone totaled 12 touchdowns and was three yards shy of 800 yards receiving.

“Kevin’s a dog, he’s strong, he’s fast, he’s really fast. He’s a really good receiver, nobody can stay in front of him, no one can tackle him, not one person can tackle him,” Kayden Bash said.

Kayden isn’t bashful when he says they form the best receiving tandem in the Lowcountry.

“The way we practice, the way take football really seriously, we talk about it all the time. What we need to do in a game, outside a game at practice.”

Bash and Boone feed off each other, when one eats, they all eat as leaders not only of the receiving corps but on the entire Stags’ roster.

“We’re setting the example. We’re showing others what to do, what not to do, we show them every time. We’re stepping up always anytime,” exclaimed Boone.

Close to each other on the field, the stat columns, and in the alphabet. The two’s bond transcends beyond the gridiron.

“We’re always together, on the weekends we’re always together. He’s at my house, I’m always at his house. We always try to get work in,” Kayden Bash said.

The Oakland A’s once had the bash brothers of Canseco and McGwire, Berkeley has the receiving brothers of Boone and Bash.
