Elderly man safely recovered after getting lost in woods

WILLIAMSBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – The Williamsburg County Sheriff’s Office helped recover an elderly man who had gone missing in the woods Monday while riding an ATV.

The man’s family tried to locate him but were unsuccessful, they then contacted law enforcement to report that he was lost.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to a residence in the Greeleyville area after they received information about an older man who had ridden off into the woods on his ATV.

Deputies were able to reach the elderly man on his cell phone and law enforcement located him.

The Florence County Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit provided their helicopter to aid in the search operation, and officials say the man was found unharmed.
