DORCHESTER COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) – Dorchester School District 4 is making changes to its schedule due to the threat of severe weather from Hurricane Helene this week.

The district met with its safety team and local officials and determined that all after-school activities would be canceled for Thursday.

Students will also have an eLearning day on Friday.

“This decision was made based on the projected forecast of rain overnight in addition to sustained winds and potential wind gusts in the early morning hours from Hurricane Helene,” the district said.

Schools will reach out to families with eLearning instructions.

“Your safety remains our foremost concern. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time,” the district said.
